Jamie Thomas
learned the process of “divorce recovery” first hand by not only
living through it but by recognizing that merely surviving
divorce is not enough. She found when going through her own
(second) divorce after a twelve year marriage that many aspects of
the process were left unexplained. Although she worked with a good
attorney, information she had expected to get from her lawyer was
not forthcoming. The reason, she discovered, is that many problems
and situations which have to be dealt with during the process of a
divorce do not fall into the realm of legal help. Therein lies the
reason for establishing a business which “fills in the gaps”. Jamie
teaches women what they will need to know during their divorce on a
general, elementary though very broad level - a kind of Divorce 101.
Originally from Rhode Island, Jamie’s background
includes accounting, customer service and four years as an antiques
dealer. She was the co-owner of an architectural-engineering
consulting firm while living on Vashon Island for nine years.
Though seemingly unrelated to the subject of divorce, all of her
prior endeavors have proven to be important sources of experience
and education and have helped greatly in the creation (in 1996),
evolution and continuing operation of Divorce Network™.
Jamie is a member of the Family Law Section of the
Washington State Bar Association and was a founding member of “Take
Back the Courts”, an ad hoc group formed to promote the
establishment of a user-friendly court system in which women may
defend themselves, and their children, without incurring massive
legal debt.
